Christiana Barau

Christiana Barau is a distinguished Senior Magistrate with the Niger State Judiciary, bringing over a decade of judicial experience to her service as a judge of the lower court. She holds an LL.B from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a B.L from the Nigerian Law School, Bwari. She also earned an LL.M from the University of Ilorin, where she is currently pursuing her Ph.D.

Her professional journey began in education, teaching at Government Day Secondary School, Minna, before being called to the Bar and joining the Ministry of Justice. She later transitioned to the bench as a Magistrate, where she has continued to uphold justice with integrity and fairness.

Beyond the judiciary, Mrs. Barau has been deeply committed to advocacy for women and children. She is a former Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Niger State Chapter, where she championed the protection of vulnerable groups. She also serves as a mediator with the Niger State Multidoor Courthouse and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria.

Currently, she is the Financial Secretary of the International Society of Public Law (ICON-S), Nigeria, and has previously served in leadership roles with the Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria. As a human rights activist, she works actively with women-led organizations to combat violence against women and children in society.
